TCU (Texas Christian University) football history goes back to 1896 when the school fielded its first football team. The TCU Horned Frogs have won national championships in 1935 and 1938 and have appeared in 16 bowl games. The football program is known for its innovative offenses, including the "spread" formation and "wildfrog" formation. Legendary TCU head coach Dutch Meyer led the team to national championships in the 1930s, and other notable coaches who have led the program include Gary Patterson and Dennis Franchione. TCU has produced many NFL players, including Bob Lilly, LaDainian Tomlinson, Andy Dalton, and Jerry Hughes. The team plays its home games at Amon G. Carter Stadium, which has been the program's home since 1930.
